Entrepreneurial Adventure Showcase Ottawa | The Learning Partnership

On Monday, May 30, 2016 we had the privilege of photographing Ottawa's Entrepreneurial Adventure Showcase at the Canadian Museum of History. We even had the opportunity to snap photographs of the Honourable Finance Minister of Canada, Bill Morneau as he listened to the children talk about their projects and how much they were able to raise for various charities.

While we we did take over 300 photographs of this event, we're careful of which images we share due to the nature of it being a children's event with many schools involved, but we hope you can get a sense of all the good that was happening that morning.

What is the Learning Partnerships's Entrepreneurial Adventure?

"The Learning Partnership’s Entrepreneurial Adventure is all about sparking students’ natural curiosity, intelligence and passion to seize an opportunity to take their ideas to market – and discover just what they can do!

The Entrepreneurial Adventure Program is a hands-on entrepreneurial journey for students in Grades K-12. It is designed to develop students’ enterprising spirit, financial literacy, innovative thinking and social responsibility. To date, these student business ventures have raised $2.9 million for charities!"

THROWBACK: Offbeat Rainy Day Wedding

The new year is here and we're excited to photograph more beautiful couples and weddings this year. And while the dates are quickly adding up, we wanted to do a little throwback to a past wedding that was unique and may give those planning a wedding, a little relief.

We love to shoot offbeat weddings. We never really know what to expect and there's a certain laid-back feel to them that we dig. This one in particular was a backyard wedding out in Limoges and didn't have a typical schedule set out. The bridal party photos were done first and almost an hour away from their wedding venue, the bride got "getting ready photos" after the bridal shoot, much of it was DIY, the dress was previously loved and our favourite part: they weren't officially getting married! All of it was done out of a love for a family member that had limited time to be with them.

When you're thinking of putting together your wedding day, know one thing as a couple: there are no rules. Do it however you want to do it no matter what "they" say you're "supposed to do."

If you're a new photographer: always be prepared for rain.

PHOTOS: Toddler portraits for Christmas with Happiness is Handmade

We collaborate with Jenn of Happiness is Handmade to build a set every holiday and take photos of her daycare children. Here's a few of GG, a sweet 2 year old she watches regularly. By these photos you'd never be able to tell just how hard and how long we worked to make her smile!

GIVE BACK: One Big Benefit Event

Last night at Babylon we helped to raise funds to benefit Jimmy of A Dark Cloud, The Daily Grind and the Middle Eastern Bakery and took pictures of the event.

I ran into so many people, it was like a blast from the past reuniting with old faces, but it goes to show that while tragedy does bring us closer, it reminds us what love is, what love can do and what love can build.

Respect to everyone who came together last night and to everyone who has helped and contributed over the last month to everyone affected by the fire.
