PHOTOS: Skateboarding and Art = aSymmetry Project

aSymmetry Project sets out to merge the worlds of art and skateboarding. We had the unique pleasure of being part of this project.

This is a grassroots project where artists from all walks of life, with different styles and methods create unique, one of a kind works of art using skate decks as their canvas.

Each artist is then paired with a skater who brings their own style and aesthetic to the table.  The decks become living works of art as the skaters take them to the streets.

PHOTOS: Zero Waste Art, Clio Em and Scary Bear Soundtrack

If you haven't seen enough photos from the Artists' Series on Saturday, we have more for you below.

We kicked off the night with Mai's zero waste live art performance backed by music played live by Gloria Guns, followed by a beautiful show by Clio Em and her violist Marie-Claire. Afterwards, Scary Bear Soundtrack rocked the house and got our dancing feet on with a guest appearance by Avid Napper. To close the night we released the music video for Fault Lines, a song about ending and bringing awareness to violence against women.

Art was on sale by Mai, which went directly to our non-profit A.R.T in Action. A lovely couple walked away with her second 'garbage' piece, a big tree, she created live during Chinatown Remixed

Special thanks to Family Industries and Brandi Van Haren for helping us through the whole night and to the Daily Grind for letting us jam out.
